what to expect in a Session

As a practitioner I assist the client with connecting deeply inward and support in clearing any blocks that may be in the way whether physical, energetic, emotional or creative. A client can expect a 60-90 minute session consisting of integrated techniques such as Reflexology, Swedish Relaxation Massage and Reiki. These offerings are useful to decrease anxiety, ease pain and bring clarity to the mind as well as promote mind, body, and spirit harmony. The client then can choose to spend some time in artistic after care to readjust. There is an optional portion in the studio space set up for journaling, painting or drawing to enjoy if the client wishes to. I have found it is sometimes so hard to get right back into the regular pace of life after therapeutic work so this is intended to cushion the “coming back to reality” portion of a session. If anyone is new to massage and energy work, this is a perfect gentle space to begin.

What is Reiki or Energy Healing?

Reiki

“Literally translated from Japanese, Reiki means ‘Spiritual Energy’; it can be described as the energy of everything. To work with this energy is to experience life at its fullest, to be one with all that can be seen or not seen. This system was created to give us this full life experience so that we may remember our connection to life and live in alignment with it. Its creator was a man born into the latter half of the 19th century in Japan, Usui Mikao.” (passage from The Japanese Art of Reiki, A Practical Guide to Self Healing.)

So why do you use both terms Reiki and Energy Healing?

Although I have technically done the initiation process to be certified as a “Reiki Master” I do not consider this to be a complete and accurate representation of what I do in a session. I appreciate and resonate with the Reiki system and utilize the symbols with reverence and respect as I integrate it with my own form of energy work specific to me. I feel I can only be a master of my own medicine, which is what I offer in my sessions. I have found people have a broader understanding of the term Reiki as opposed to generalizing as Energy Healing, so I use both terms to communicate I am simply facilitating the universal life force to flow through me as an instrument to promote self healing.
